How long does it take to remove the scale when you start using softened water?
- Six weeks from a kettle
- Six months from a heat exchanger
- Up to two years from your pipework.
Hard water comes into the house at approximately 300 ppm.
When it has passed through the water softener it is at virtually zero. As it enters the pipes its just like as if it was going back underground and is starts to dissolve the chalk and lime again as if creating a new cave.
It will therefore come out of your tap at approximately 10-15ppm of hardness.
This hardness goes of down the drain and over a period of time all the existing scale in the house goes away in the same method.
The scale will be removed from in your kettle within six weeks. You can see this yourself happening typically its gone within a couple of weeks.
We guarantee that the scale will be gone from your heat exchanger within six months and from the rest of your pipe work within two years.
Customers that have never had a water softener before do not notice this.
They think the water is brilliantly soft at 15ppm.
Customers that have had a water softener in a house and take it with them to a new house that has a scale build up in the pipe work notice that the water quality is not as good as before. This is because it is running at between 10-15ppm.
You also get this phenomena in homes with only one or two people living there. Over the weekend if they donšt use the hot water it spends at lot of time in the hot water cylinder dissolving the scale and the hardness will go up over 20ppm which is noticeable.
If they use a lot of water hardness only ever gets up around 5-10ppm.
