Will a softener remove the greenish white deposit that forms around the valves on my radiator?

The formation of deposits around the plumbing joints in central heating systems is caused by very slow water leaks.  The water evaporates leaving behind the minerals that are in the water.  They will include the chemicals used in inihibitors.

Stopping the very slow leak will cure it.  A water softener will not.
